From Berlin to HanseSail in Rostock, Germany

After leaving GroupeSTAHL Europe offices in Berlin, I arrived today at the Tall Ships festival HanseSail in Rostock, Germany. 266 Tall Ships from many countries are moored along 3 miles of shorline. Beautiful.

Visiting and meeting face to face with the team at the GroupeSTAHL Europe location in Berlin for several days this past week, where I realized once again that Germany is one of the world’s cleanest, well organized countries. It is enjoyable to see the pride people take in their surroundings, especially in such a large metropolitan area like Berlin. I was also impressed by the variety of tourists and tourist attractions in this world city. As for decorated garments, the many reasons to visit Berlin are often printed on t-shirts, caps, mugs, flags, pennants, every type of souvenir that exists can be found here. As for garment art trends, I hesitate to overuse the word bling, instead going with the more sophisticated use of foils, which I am seeing everywhere, often in combination with full color logos. Leaving Berlin, I am now in the Northern Germany city of Rostock, where I am being further impressed by a gathering called the Hanse Sail Rostock. Three miles of shoreline with Tall Ships from around the world, the harbor is lined with bands, booths, international craft exhibits, a Polish fair, and lots of people enjoying the international gathering of Tall Ships.  There are 226 participating vessels in the city harbor of Rostock and in Warnemünde.

Up to one million visitors are expected to visit this Tall Ships festival which takes place from Aug 9-12. I’m glad I was able to experience this gathering of antique sailing vessels.
