Keeping Creative in 2011

My mother Rikki and two of her great grandchildren.

During the past few days I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with my family, including my mother Rikki Stahl. In addition to getting all the kids and grandkids together and sharing meals, playing games, talking and opening gifts, I also had the chance to enjoy a movie with my mother and it was truly a film I can recommend, for several reasons. It has a great cast, storyline and setting, and more importantly for me, a message.
The film is called “Finding Neverland,” starring Johnny Depp, Kate Winslett, Julie Christie and Dustin Hoffmann. It’s based on a true story about the life of Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie. What struck a chord with me was the realization of how so many of us lose our child-like ability to be creative and imaginative as we grow older. Children have a remarkable ability to see things through different eyes than we adults. It truly is a shame that so many of us “grow out” of or simply forget how to use our imaginations as we grow older. Being able to see the world through the eyes of a child is a gift that I wish all of you for 2011. If you have time to watch a movie between now and the start of 2011, “Finding Neverland” is one to consider. Like me, you might find yourself inspired to think out of the box more than ever in 2011. It will probably be good for your business and it will most definately be good for your spirit. Here’s a trailer for the movie:
