On Display at the 2014 Sochi Games–Hot Logo Trend

One of the hottest trends will be “liquid” or tone on tone logos and accents. By using clear films or other 3-D printing techniques, we’re seeing designs that can best be described as “liquid.” A good example is of the tone on tone design across the shoulders of the US Olympic Hockey jerseys by Nike. We predict it’s going to be everywhere soon.

When my wife Mary and I watch the Winter Olympics, we not only enjoy hearing the back stories about the athletes and seeing amazing feats of athleticism and competition, we also have an eye open for some of the latest uniform decoration trends. Yesterday Mary snapped a few photos of a trend which you’re going to be seeing more and more. This trend is subtle, but it makes a not-so-subtle impression. I wrote about it earlier this year, calling it tone on tone. It’s also known as Liquid Glass, Shark Bite (although I’m not quite sure why), and other crazy names. This will soon be available at Stahls‘ in both a gloss and matte finish, as part of the Stahls’ TEK heat transfer material line featuring STIX-2 adhesive. And while you will see these this trend on all types of performance sportswear, such as yoga pants and running wear, you’re also going to be seeing it used on all types of promotional products. It’s perfect for adding subtle, tone on tone corporate logo looks on sleeves, on legs, around the wrist or down an arm. Go USA!
