Teddy Bear Toss

Being a hockey fan, this caught my attention, thought I would share. Not only does it benefit a great cause, it is also a fantastic example of thinking outside the box in terms of getting people to participate. (something to inspire you when you sit around thinking up marketing ideas for your business!) According to Yahoo Sports, the Teddy Bear Toss is a grand tradition in minor and junior hockey leagues in Canada. Last year the Teddy Bear Toss took place during a Calgary Hitmen game which saw 23,096 stuffed animals hit the ice and later donated to the Alberta Children’s Hospital. This past Sunday, the Hitmen hosted the event for the 17th year and beat their total from last season. After their first goal, Hitmen fans bombarded the ice with a total of 25,003 stuffed animals that will also go to the children’s hospital.
