How many of you remember the look on your kid’s face when he/she got their first team uniform? These days team sports start early–as young as 4 or 5 years old– with many kids playing on mini-kicker soccer leagues or t-ball or whatever their sport may be. Or maybe you remember YOUR first team uniform. Sometimes getting the uniform is more exciting than playing the sport itself. The kids are always so proud to have their own number, even if they don’t have a name on the jersey. My grandson was one of those kids recently and I’ll never forget the smile on his face as he proudly wore his new soccer jersey and ran around the field kicking the ball towards the goal.
Their team uniforms have a sponsor name on them, and this is a great opportunity for many businesses to support the local youth. You’ve probably been approached to provide sponsorship at some point, and I know many of you are very generous with providing uniforms and lettering to youth groups that can’t afford to purchase them. I applaud all of you who give back to the community in this way. It means more than you will ever know to the children who may be receiving their first team uniform ever.
